My Journey to Ayurveda
I feel this journey began in 2005 in a magical place in Mexico called Tashirat. An orphanage and spiritual school teaching nutrition, yoga and meditation.
I came here to be of service, but I got so much more from the experience. Especially the magic and resilience of the children who transformed through the power of love and dedication from the staff members who became their family.
It was also where I learned so much about true health and wellness and the power we have within us.
I have to mention the founder of Tashirat, Artimia Arian, who has written many books, including Cosmic Reawakening, among others. The knowledge within comes partly from study of many great authors and leaders in health and especially Eastern philosophy, inlcuding yoga, and also Cosmic Knowledge received in meditations.
This ignited within me a desire to search for truth. The truth of who we are, why we are here and how best to travel this path. It is one thing to read books and understand concepts; it is quite another to really embody the knowledge and wisdom.
The path after Tashirat was very bumpy and darkened by trauma and loss. However, I had been given a jewel that glistened inside, and even when the light was almost gone, there remained enough of a glimmer to give me hope.
I knew being of service was my Dharma and I followed the path of counsellor. While training and working as a counsellor, I was also still walking a spiritual path and remained passionate about health and wellness.
Ayurveda was something that kept coming into my awareness and after a difficult time following a loss from suicide, a book came into my life and I knew this was my sign for the next phase of my journey.
Ayurveda combined all of these loves in one magical wisdom tradition and system of medicine. It is both a science and a beautiful art. It is spiritual knowledge, holistic health and medical wisdom and the light of the universal consciousness shines through every facet.
I started training at the Ayurveda Institute UK under Dr Deepika Rodrigo in 2019. A true gift with everything that followed in 2020 with covid. I also found myself faced with another dark night of the soul as my marriage of 13 years ended and my life fell apart.
Despite the rug being pulled from beneath my feet and every area of my life changing in an instant. Having Ayurveda in my life was a lighthouse. The light of the divine emanates from the wisdom. Finding ayurveda is like coming in from the dark and cold into the warmth of home, coming home to who we truly are.
